Electrical Compliance

We offer a broad line of electrical safety test instruments. These include dielectric withstand testers, multi-function electrical safety compliance analyzers, hipot testers, insulation resistance testers, ground bond testers, line leakage testers and medical test systems.

 

We also offer electrical safety test systems and stand-alone software for our fully automated lines of testers. Additionally, we have available a complete line of electrical safety testing accessories.

 

COMMON ELECTRICAL SAFETY TESTS
Electrical safety tests are loosely broken down into 2 separate groups, design or type tests, and routine production line tests. Design tests are usually performed to detect product flaws during the design stage of an electrical product. The information retrieved from a design test is useful for finding potential problems with product design and development. Production line tests are usually required to be performed on 100% of the products leaving a facility for sale to consumers.


A production line test helps to ensure a particular product is safe for consumer use.


Dielectric Voltage-Withstand Test - This test, commonly referred to as a Hipot test, is used to stress the insulation of a product far beyond what it would it encounter during normal operation. High voltage is applied from the mains-input lines to the chassis of the product in order to look for insulation breakdown. The hipot test is a 100% production line test and can be performed using either an AC or a DC voltage.


Ground Continuity Test - This test is usually used to determine if the ground wire of a product is intact. A low volt-age is applied from the chassis of the product to the ground pin in order to determine if the appropriate amount of current flows.


Ground Bond Test - This test is used to verify that the ground conductor of a product has a low enough impedance to han-dle any fault current to ground. High current flows from the ground pin of the product's line cord and through the chassis in order to determine if the cabling is capable of handling excessive current flow should a fault occur.


Insulation Resistance Test - This test is used to verify the resistance of a product’s insulation by applying a DC volt-age and measuring the resulting leakage current.

  • Compliance Analysers

    Our Electrical Safety Compliance Analyzers are designed for automated test applications.


    They offer a full complement of automation interfaces including Ethernet, USB/RS-232, IEEE-488 (GPIB) and more. These testers are fully automated and can be controlled with Autoware®, our stand alone software. They are also compatible with the latest Labview® software drivers.

     

    These products will perform a complete suite of electrical safety compliance tests such as AC Hipot, DC Hipot and Insulation Resistance tests, Ground Bound, Ground Continuity, Functional Run and Line Leakage tests. These testers are also compatible with our modular scanning matrixes for multiple point or multiple product testing. They are well suited for automated applications that require efficiency, flexibility, multiple tests, increased throughput and data storage.

    Our OMNIA® II Series, our next generation of Electrical Safety Compliance Analyzers offers our latest technology, function and features. The series features six models, the 8204, the 8254, the 8206, the 8256, the 8207, and the 8257.

  • Dielectric Analysers

    Our Dielectric Analyzers are designed for automated test applications.

     

    They are available in two families: HypotULTRA III and HypotMAX. HypotULTRA III offers offer a full compliment of automation interfaces including Ethernet, USB/RS-232, and IEEE-488 (GPIB) and more. Our fully automated products can also be controlled with Autoware®, our stand alone software, and are compatible with the latest Labview® software drivers. These products will perform a complete suite of dielectric tests such as AC Hipot, DC Hipot and Insulation Resistance tests. These testers are also compatible with our modular scanning matrixes for multiple point or multiple product testing. They are well suited for automated applications that require efficiency, flexibility, multiple tests, increased throughput and data storage.

    Our HypotMAX family offers automation interfaces such as USB/RS-232, IEEE-4888 and more. These testers are fully automated and can be controlled with Autoware®, our stand alone software. They are also compatible with the latest Labview® software drivers. HypotMAX offers 500 VA Dielectric Analyzers as well as Dielectric Analyzers that offer testing solutions for up-to 20 kV AC and DC.

    Ground Bond Testers

    The Ground Bond test is used to verify the integrity of a DUT’s earth ground conductor. Our high current AC Ground Bond testers assure compliance with design/type testing specifications and provide an extra level of confidence when determining product safety.
